Amorim’s Vision: A New Identity

During his first press conference, Amorim spoke passionately about his main priority: creating a cohesive identity for the club.

“The most important thing for me is identity. From day one, we will focus on building a game model—how to play, how to press, and all the small details,” Amorim shared.

While acknowledging the importance of Manchester United’s rich history, the Portuguese coach stressed that the team cannot rely solely on past glory. His immediate goal is to bring clarity to the team’s playing style and focus on gradual improvement.

A Long-Term Project with Immediate Challenges

Amorim, who replaces Erik ten Hag, signed a contract with United until June 2027. His tenure officially begins with a Premier League match against Ipswich next Sunday, pending the completion of his work permit.

The 38-year-old coach is aware of the need to balance long-term goals with short-term success. "We know we need time, but we have to win time—and that means winning games," Amorim remarked.

United’s History: A Source of Inspiration and Pressure

Reflecting on Manchester United’s legacy, Amorim emphasized the significance of their past success while underscoring the importance of moving forward:

"Manchester United is the biggest club in England because of its history. But history alone won’t win games. It’s up to us to bring back that winning spirit."

Plans for a New Era

Amorim revealed that discussions with Manchester United’s management, including chief executive Omar Berrada, highlighted plans for the redevelopment of Old Trafford or the construction of a new stadium. These ambitious plans played a key role in convincing Amorim to join.

“It’s a real honour to be part of this vision. A new stadium and new ideas are exciting, but they must be matched by success on the pitch,” he stated.

Backroom Changes and Squad Preparations

While Amorim’s backroom staff is still being finalized, it has been confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy, previously an interim manager, will leave the club. Van Nistelrooy expressed gratitude to the fans and staff for their support during his tenure.

Amorim has already begun familiarizing himself with the club, meeting players like Luke Shaw and Mason Mount during his visit to Carrington and Old Trafford. However, he will have a full squad available only after the international break.

Key Goals for Amorim’s Tenure

As Amorim begins his journey at Manchester United, his strategy revolves around several key priorities:

  • - Identity Creation: Establishing a consistent and recognizable playing style.
  • - Short-Term Results: Improving match outcomes to regain confidence and momentum.
  • - Long-Term Vision: Aligning the team’s performance with broader club ambitions, including infrastructure upgrades.

With these goals in mind, Amorim hopes to lead Manchester United into a new era of success, both on and off the field.

Amorim’s Ambitious Start

As Manchester United’s fans eagerly await the start of this new chapter, all eyes are on Amorim to see if he can bring the identity and success the club desperately needs.
