Tsitsipas Faces Unexpected First-Round Defeat at US Open: Health Issues Affect Performance
Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas, ranked 11th in the ATP, suffered an unexpected defeat in the first round of the US Open. In a dramatic match against Australian Tanasi Kokkinakis (ranked 86th in ATP), Tsitsipas lost with scores of 6-7(5), 6-4, 3-6, 5-7. The primary reason for his loss was health problems, specifically abdominal pain, which forced him to take several medical timeouts.

Kokkinakis, with this victory, has reached the second round of the US Open for the first time since 2021. He will face either Nuno Borges or Federico Coria in the next round. Additionally, Tsitsipas is also competing in the mixed doubles with Spanish player Paula Badosa.
Osaka Impressively Defeats Seeded Player at US Open
Naomi Osaka, who received a wild card entry for the tournament, made a strong start at the US Open 2024. The former world No. 1 from Japan convincingly defeated Latvian player Jelena Ostapenko (ranked 10th in WTA) with scores of 6-3, 6-2. This was their second encounter, and Osaka emerged victorious once again.

Osaka, who has won the US Open twice (2018, 2020), will face Czech player Karolína Muchová (ranked 52nd in WTA) in the next round, hoping to continue her successful run.

Djokovic Reveals Secrets to Athletic Longevity
Current US Open champion Novak Djokovic shared his secrets to maintaining peak performance at the age of 37. After a confident win against Radu Albot (6-2, 6-2, 6-4) in the first round, Djokovic explained that longevity in tennis is the result of a comprehensive lifestyle approach.

"There isn’t just one word or secret that describes it; it’s a way of life and approach to my tennis career. I learned early on that prevention and regular stretching are key to longevity in the sport. The mental aspect is also important – finding a balance between physical and mental states," Djokovic shared.
In the second round, Djokovic will face Laslo Djere. It was previously reported that Djokovic had broken Roger Federer's record at the US Open, continuing his impressive career.
